Bahria University was established by the Pakistan Navy on 7 February 2000 through a Presidential Ordinance, growing out of Bahria Colleges and Bahria Institutes of Management and Computer Sciences set up in the 1980s-90s. Bahria University College of Medicine, Islamabad, is a newer constituent unit, holding its inauguration ceremony on 3 October 2024 (a separate Bahria medical and dental college in Karachi was founded in 2008).
Location
The college is part of Bahria University's Islamabad campus at Shangrilla Road, Sector E-8/1, in Pakistan's federal capital, a planned city developed from the 1960s as the seat of national government.

Admission criteria
Merit at Bahria University College of Medicine is computed under the standard weightage: Matric 10% + FSc/HSSC 40% + entrance test 50%. Minimum FSc 60% and a qualifying PMDC-MDCAT score are required to be eligible.
