Foundation University Medical College (FUMC) was established in May 2000 in the Fauji Foundation Head Office building, with its first academic session commencing in January 2001 after PMDC approval. In October 2002 it came under the newly federally chartered Foundation University Islamabad (FUI), and the college moved to a new campus in December 2005. It was listed in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools by 2007.
