History & background

Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) was established by a National Assembly ordinance on 21 March 2013 on the premises of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad, beginning academic operations in January 2014. Its School of Dentistry project was completed in 2020, scoring 94% in a Pakistan Medical Commission inspection (the highest in the country at the time), and admitted its first BDS batch of 50 students in 2021.

Location

Islamabad is Pakistan's purpose-built federal capital, developed from the 1960s onward as a planned city, and hosts numerous federal institutions including the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences complex that houses SZABMU.

Admission criteria
