Khyber College of Dentistry began as the Department of Dentistry within Khyber Medical College's pathology block, formally opened on 12 October 1964 by Health Minister Begum Mahmuda Salim, with its first batch graduating in 1968 under founder-chairman Prof. Dr Ahmad Iqbal. It was upgraded from department to full college status on 11 January 1990 by then-Chief Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, marking the department's Silver Jubilee.

Admission criteria
