Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan Medical and Dental College was established and inaugurated in 2009 by then-President Asif Ali Zardari, added to the existing Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex which had originated in 1986 as the Shaikh Zayed Federal Postgraduate Medical Institute and Hospital, funded through UAE assistance. Its first MBBS batch graduated at the end of 2014.
