Sahiwal Medical College (SLMC) was established in 2010; the foundation stone was laid on 27 November 2010 by the Chief Minister of Punjab. Classes initially ran out of DHQ Hospital Sahiwal before the college moved to its own purpose-built 70-acre campus in 2014.
