HITEC Institute of Medical Sciences (HITEC-IMS) was established in 2016 under Heavy Industries Taxila Education City (HITEC), an educational offshoot of Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), Pakistan's defence-manufacturing complex founded in 1971. PM&DC conducted its first inspection in December 2016 and granted formal recognition in January 2017 for an initial intake of 100 MBBS students.
