Fatima Jinnah Dental College was established in the University of Karachi's 1992-93 academic year by the Fatima Jinnah Dental College & Hospital Trust, timed to coincide with the centenary of the birth of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah -- a qualified dentist and sister of Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is the pioneer stand-alone dental teaching institution in Pakistan, not run as a department of any medical college.
