The Shahida Islam Medical Complex project began in 2013 in Lodhran, an underdeveloped district of southern Punjab, with Shahida Islam Medical College (SIMC) admitting its first MBBS batch in the 2016-17 session and Shahida Islam Teaching Hospital inaugurated the same year. Shahida Islam Dental College was added in 2019, following the earlier addition of the Rehabilitation Sciences and Nursing colleges in 2018.
