Bacha Khan Dental College began as a dental department within Bacha Khan Medical College (itself inaugurated on 1 January 2010) in 2011, with its first batch of 25 BDS students; intake was later increased to 50 in 2020. Prof. Dr Umar Khitab, then head of the Dentistry Department, is credited as the founding figure who singlehandedly established the dental college.

Admission criteria
